MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF DESIGNING DIGITAL SUBSTATIONS WITH DIFFERENT VOLTAGE *

Аннотация:
this paper is aimed at modern renewal and improvement of electric power systems. The purpose of the project is to create digital substations for effective management and maintenance of 10-35-110 kV power grids. The use of advanced technologies, including the IEC 61850 standard and digital automation systems, will improve the monitoring, control and maintenance of substations. The integration of the Smart Grid will enable more efficient management of energy distribution by taking into account consumer demand and optimizing energy consumption.

10-35-110 kV digital substations represent the latest evolution in power distribution infrastructure. These stations use advanced digital technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and data analytics. They use intelligent sensors and communication systems for real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance and optimized network operation. Digital stations prioritize efficiency, reliability and remote accessibility, enabling faster fault response and remote network management and control. The differences between these types of stations are in their technological complexity and operational capabilities. Traditional stations rely more on manual intervention, while modern and digital stations increasingly automate processes for better efficiency and reliability. Modern stations have advanced technologies, but may not be as digitally integrated as the latest digital stations, which emphasize intelligent, data-driven operations. The transition from traditional stations to digital stations involves replacing old infrastructure with more advanced equipment and implementing strong cyber security measures to protect against digital threats. /Figure 1. Structural scheme of the digital substation complex.10-35-110 kilovolt (kV) digital substations have a number of distinct advantages over traditional and even modern substations due to their advanced technological features:Improved Reliability: Digital substations use smart sensors and real-time monitoring to detect and correct faults quickly, reducing downtime by providing more reliable power supplyImproved Efficiency: Automation and remote control enable optimized operations, minimize energy losses and improve overall network efficiency.Increased safety: Advanced digital systems provide better protection mechanisms, reduce the risks associated with electrical faults and provide faster response time in case of emergencies./Figure 2. Digital substation.IEC61850 is a communication protocol standard used in power distribution systems. Designed to standardize and simplify the exchange of information between components of the electrical infrastructure, this protocol is widely used for automation of electrical infrastructure in electrical power transmission and distribution networks. Transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, etc. used in the standard power sector. ensures the mutual operation of such devices and equipment. Its application contributes to more efficient and safe management of energy infrastructure (Figure 3)./Figure 3. IEC 61850 standard. Objectives of IEC61850:1. Integration: ensuring the integrated operation of various devices and equipment using a single communication protocol.2. Remote Management and Monitoring/Measuring: Facilitate remote management and measurement of critical energy infrastructure values.3. Automation and data analysis: data collection and analysis for process automation in the energy industry.4. Data Security: Prevent data loss by using timestamps to record data historically. The IEC61850 communication architecture is flexible and modular, using the ACSI (Abstract Communication Service Interface) standard to enable interoperability between devices from different manufacturers.10-35-110 kV digital substations have many advantages, but they also have certain disadvantages:Upfront Cost: Implementation of digital substations involves significant upfront costs due to the need for advanced technology, complex equipment and infrastructure upgrades.Complexity: The integration of multiple digital components and complex software increases the complexity of system design, configuration, and maintenance, requiring specialized expertise.Cyber Security Risks: Digital systems are vulnerable to cyber threats and require strong cyber security measures to protect against potential breaches that could compromise network security and operations.Interoperability issues: Compatibility issues can arise when connecting different devices from different manufacturers, which requires careful planning and standardization to ensure seamless interoperability.Conclusion. Key components of digital substations, such as digital transformers and smart switchgear, facilitate accurate monitoring and predictive maintenance, reduce downtime and optimize network performance. In addition, their ability to seamlessly integrate renewable energy sources contributes to a more sustainable energy supply. However, the implementation of digital substations involves high initial costs, complexity in system integration, and cyber security risks that require vigilance. Finally, 10-35-110 kV digital substations maximize operational efficiency, enable quick fault detection, and are more flexible and responsive. is revolutionizing energy distribution by developing the network. With proper planning and investment, these substations serve as key assets in developing a modern, sustainable and technologically advanced electricity infrastructure for the future.
