THE EVOLUTION OF INTERNET ACCESS IN TURKMENISTAN

Abstract: this article describes the increasing Internet nowadays in Turkmenistan.

Keywords: internet speed, internet service, increase speed, communication network.

Turkmenistan gained access to the Internet in 1997 through a contract with MCI Communications (later became MCI WorldCom). The domain of the Turkmen Internet is .tm , created in 1997 . Dependence on expensive satellite channels limited the availability of Internet to only two thousand subscribers. To upgrade the Internet backbone, Ministry of Communication signed a contract with TATA Communications for routing traffic through Transit-Asia-Europe fiber optic channel. As a result of this development, Turkmen Telecom started offering an access to the higher speed Internet with ADSL to the consumers in Turkmenistan. On February 17, 2007, two Internet cafes started operating in Ashgabat.

In 2008, MTS started offering Internet service to mobile subscribers via GPRS. Altyn Asyr was first to launch 3G and 2 mbps mobile internet service in March 2010. The move surprised mobile customers as the provider was known for inferior but cheaper service. In 2013 Altyn Asyr launched a 4G network based on LTE. In 2013, unlimited use of the internet became available, reducing the total cost of services from Turkmentelecom. In Turkmenistan, the national operator "Altyn Asyr" plans to provide mobile communications and the Internet to residents of small and remote villages of the country in the near future. In small settlements, the specialists of Altyn Asyr CJSC are planning to install transceiving stations of the GSM standard. In the administrative centers of velayats and etraps, at sites where transceiver stations of GSM and UMTS standards have already been installed, LTE standard stations will be additionally installed. Thus, the territory with access to the Internet will significantly expand, the website "Golden Age of Turkmenistan"reports.

For this, it is planned to purchase basic radio broadcasting equipment of the 2G, 3G and, to a greater extent, 4G generation, intended for high-speed Internet. A large number of 4G base stations will be installed in the capital alone, which will approximately half increase the existing network capacity of this standard. Over the past three years, the number of Internet users in Turkmenistan has grown by more than half a million. With an increase in the total capacity of purchased international Internet channels tenfold, Internet tariffs decreased by an average of 75 percent. As part of the state digitalization program, large-scale projects for technical support and the formation of the corresponding infrastructure have been launched. Within the framework of this program, more than 400 digital telephone exchanges, mainly of small capacity, were installed over three years, which are intended for operation in small and remote settlements. Special attention is paid to the development of telecommunications and the timely provision of broadband and high-speed communication networks to settlements in all regions and, above all, in rural areas. Within the framework of this program, more than 400 digital telephone exchanges, mainly of small capacity, were installed over three years, which are intended for operation in small and remote settlements.

For their integration into the national communication network, the capabilities of the first national artificial communication satellite "TürkmenÄlem 52 ° E" are used. In the near future, it is planned to commission more than 500 automatic telephone exchanges in rural areas with the ability to connect subscribers to the Internet. The new stage of modernization of communication systems in Turkmenistan provides for the development of high-speed data transmission channels.
